 On Saturday, July 31, 2010 Conservancy supporters delighted to the romantic music of Bulgarian virtuoso guitarists Triada Guitar Trio as they sipped hosted cocktails and sampled from wine and cheese tastings. They also enjoyed a sumptuous dinner created by Chef Azmin of Sapphire, Laguna Beach as they watched the Great Park Balloon rise into the night sky. Their magical evening concluded with dancing under the stars to a musical medley of songs performed by 2,000 Lbs of Blues.
WATCHING THE PARK GROW
 With support from the Great Park Conservancy, programming at the OC Great Park continues to expand. This past year, the world-renowned Cirque du Soleil was a major attraction bringing more than 100,000 people to the Great Park’s new festival site. The park’s growing list of free programming includes a rich variety of activities including a Natural History Lecture Series at the Conservancy; gardening workshops at the Great Park Farm & Food Lab; and the State Scholastic Chess Championships, which drew thousands of parents and their children to the first chess tournament held at the park. Seasonal cultural events, the sizzling summer concert series, and rides on the Orange Balloon continue as popular free events at the OC Great Park.
Later this summer, children and families will enjoy the Great Park Carousel, featuring rides on a menagerie of beautiful, hand-painted wooden circus animals. This summer also will mark the opening of Kids Rock, an adventure playground for children. Not long after, the Arts + Culture Exhibition Space and the Great Park Citrus Orchard will be completed. The Great Park Conservancy will continue to support exciting and dynamic new park features and events as the OC Great Park develops over the next several years.
