One
of the most unique opportunities at the Orange County Great Park is the
connection of open space. For several decades, a wide range of organizations,
including The Irvine Company, Laguna Canyon Foundation, and The Nature
Conservancy, have worked to preserve open space and habitat areas throughout
Southern California.
Together,
these groups have made remarkable progress toward safeguarding vast open
space areas for future generations.
The
Great Park is the missing link in this plan. It will link many of the
already preserved lands into a
continuous open space and wildlife
corridor
that will stretch from the Cleveland National Forest, through the Great
Park, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, Crystal Cove State Park, and finally
all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
